Sometime in 2011,
On a dimly lit night,
I gave my life to Christ;
ever since, we have been struggling for possession.
Even now, I can’t tell if I gave out of generosity
or curiosity.
Oftentimes, I wonder
how God puts up with boys like me,
because no matter how I grow, I’m always a child –
not the kind that the kingdom of heaven belongs to.
When I was seven,
I went to St Peter’s in search of God
but in his heart of heart,
my father believed God lives in the shrine.
In Shiroro,
the mullah said I could not know God
unless I stopped being an infidel.
Another day, a cleric said I’d walk straight
to hell
if I died then, because I prayed the rosary.
I’ve been growing
since my transfiguration at Mount Tabor,
and I think all you have to do to find God
is to be human.
An awesome piece. I love how the writer presented our various distorted views of God.
Thank you so much, Chiwenite.
Thank you so much, Chiwenite.
All you have to do to find God is to be human. ✍
There are no truer words than this. Most times, we make the road complicated by establishing crazy rules and principles, but we only end up frustrated in the long run.
Just be human. Love God. Love yourself. Love others.
Thank you so much for this exceptional piece!
Thank you, Zita
