All Along

Posted by Yuko Mulugetta | Apr 14, 2026 | Poetry | 0 |

All Along

You are here.

Who are you?—
I asked, trembling.

Silence.

Who are you? I want to see you—
I asked, through tears.

A bright light.

Who are you? I want to feel you—
I begged in despair.

Only vastness.

I remembered the whisper:

move with the waves,
come and go,
trust,
let yourself be carried.

I breathed.

I cast myself
into the vastness—

I felt,
in that moment,
You were I.
I was You.

Now I see:
You are in me—
No separation.
As if only One—

All along.

About The Author

Yuko Mulugetta

Yuko Mulugetta

Yuko Mulugetta, Ph.D., was born in Japan and spent her professional life in the United States as a statistician and educator in higher education. Married for over forty years to the late Dr. Abraham Mulugetta of Ethiopia, she carries forward his faith in love, trust, and compassion. After his passing, Yuko returned to the stillness of meditation and discovered her long-hidden gift for poetry. Her work bridges East and West, Christianity and Buddhism, intellect and intuition—revealing that clarity and compassion arise from the same quiet heart.

The Braided Way

The Braided Way is a framework to see every faith tradition as a strand, braided into a larger whole of spiritual awareness. In the Braided Way, combining spiritual practice from various faiths allow us to explore sacred experience and wonder in forms that resonate with our personal spiritual needs and sacred intuitions. In today’s culture, many people shun religious dogma, but yearn for spiritual connection. The Braided Way allows the ceremonies and practices of multiple faiths to be available without the confinements of cultural dogma.
